Love, power and runes

I have a fascination with all things Viking and Scandinavia. Runes are a part of that and even though I don’t tend to use them much I am still drawn to their history and uses.

Runes are an ancient alphabet used by Germanic tribes for divination, writing, and magic. The word “rune” means “secret” or “mystery” in Old Norse. The oldest known runic alphabet is the Elder Futhark, which consists of 24 letters and dates back to 150 AD.

Each rune has a specific meaning and symbolism that was used for religious, magical and practical purposes, as well as a form of communication in Norse, Anglo-Saxon and Germanic cultures. To use runes for divination and meditation, you can shuffle and select runes, then interpret the symbol. Runes have also been used to manifest intentions, attract abundance, healing, protection, love spells, career and business, and spiritual growth. It is important to choose a set of runes that resonate with you, whether they are made of wood, stone, or other materials. Cleanse and charge them before use, focus on your question and remember to clear your mind before using them.

When using runes for divination and meditation, you can use different layouts or spreads to gain a deeper understanding of the message the runes are trying to convey. Some popular spreads include the three-rune spread, the single-rune spread, and the Celtic cross spread. Each spread has its own unique interpretation and can be used for specific questions or purposes.

It is also important to note that runes can have both positive and negative outcomes, depending on the intention and focus of the individual using them. Therefore, it is important to use them with a clear and positive intention and to use them responsibly.

Cleaning and consecrating your runes is also an important step before using them. This can be done by smudging them with sage, leaving them in the moonlight, or burying them in the earth.

Runes have been used in spellwork and rituals. Each rune has its own unique properties and can be used in combination with other runes or elements such as crystals, herbs, and candles to enhance the spell’s intention. I would be careful when placing spells. Especially when it can affect another person’s free will as you might invoke some karma.

Runes can also be used as a form of self-discovery and personal growth. By studying the meanings and symbolism of each rune, one can gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around you.

Use runes with respect and reverence, practice regularly to improve your proficiency, and enjoy the journey of self-discovery.
